Leap Year Playwriting Workshop
Jan 11- Feb 29, 2020 - Brooklyn
Led by April Ranger
playwright / poet / educator / (Brooklyn College, M.F.A)
This is a rigorous and intimate 8-week course designed for artists and writers who want to write a new full-length play by the end of February 2020 – Leap Year (!)
Are you an artist (director, designer, actor, poet, essayist, stage manager, novelist, musician) who is curious about writing plays? Are you a writer who wants to be surrounded by other artists to ignite a spark for your next work? Do you crave a structured and inspiring workshop environment to write your play?
As a collective, we will first read and discuss plays by contemporary playwrights. We will also write together, responding to generative prompts created by April. The final 4-5 sessions will be devoted to workshop, where each new play will be read outloud. You will leave the class having workshopped your new play, and you will have an one-on-one “coffee/tea date” follow-up session to discuss your play with April.
